Aside from the tangent in the left arm, Im seeing now that perhaps you could have contoured the lines on the skirt by making them appear curved instead of so horizontal. I guess it gives it a VERY stylized, graphic look. Whatever floats your boat I guess :)

Hmm...  Okay, maybe I will start doing that.  I was planning to just make a once a year video with my sketchbooks, but maybe I should just make a DA folder with sketches or scraps?

Sycra, I'm the same about the tons of bad sketches vs. the one good sketch thing. But it's nice to know that artists we try to emulate go through the same problems we do. Trust me, realizing in one of your videos that the vast majority of your sketches did NOT look like they were drawn by a pro made me feel like my vast majority of crappy sketches weren't a sign that I would never make it as a professional artist. It gave me a much-needed boost of confidence. So sharing is a good thing. We appreciate seeing that you're human like the rest of us ;)

It's just so many of my sketches are really quite bad.  You know that ratio of good to bad drawings?  Well mine is probably 100 bad drawings to 1 good one or something.  A friend of mine from animation school once told me, "How come when you draw, either it's pretty crappy compared to everyone else, or it's the best?"  I don't really know why.  I'm just not very consistent and it seems I forget things even after I spend a long time learning them.

mm, if you don't want to you don't have to, i just thought it'd be awesome, try to be proud that you can do what you can do, weather or not you think they're bad or not i still think their awesome because they come from my favorite artist. the best in my eyes because you teach us for free, you can relate to us all! you're a 'real' person
anyway, i'd just thought id ask because in my eyes it's worth seeing weather or not it's the best :)

Nice work sycra, btw im always listening to your streams and interviews, do more interviews .-. uashusahusah
One suggestion, ever thought about making a podcast about art? Just sayin, you'd already have one listener.

May i make a request? Make another tutorial about hair T-T "i already watched yours" but still, i'm really struggling on that digitally, you know actually painting one in real time and saying the steps, like this shilin tutorial shilin.net/tango.php but only hair, more manga/realistic. I see this hair cg-zander.deviantart.com/art/I… and i just dont know the steps. I already talked to much, thx for the process xDDD

Ah, no plans on a podcast anytime soon.  Would be hard to find the time right now.

As for hair, I really am not as good as those people so I'm not sure I could do a very good job.  Maybe you could ask them for a tutorial?

I already asked alot of ppl hhihi, asked him, shilin, and you i think. But it's fine, if you feel like doing it i'm shure the viewers would welcome it greatly xD

It's not so much, 'if I feel like it' it's more, 'if I can do it'.  lol...  I feel like I'm just not that qualified to do work at the level of shilin just yet.  I mean, one day I hope, but right now...  Nope.

I feel like this process takes inspiration from Bobmeatbag's way of working, would I be correct in assuming this?

Guess who introduced that technique to bobmeatbag?  ;)  But yeah, we use the same colouring method.

Thanks for sharing your process. The end result looks awesome, but I do prefer the color block-in due to the grey background making the colors pop out more. But hey that is just me :) (Smile)

Ah, so it's just the gray background, or also that the block-in is more messy?  As in, would you prefer the polished piece with gray background or just the colour block-in stage?

Thanks for letting me know.  It's interesting to hear you prefer the basic colour version.  The time it takes from Colour Block-in to Paint & Polish is actually longer than how long it takes from Sketch to Colour Block-in.

I think it's just because of too bright lineart in some places. Colours seem to merge together.

Haha sweet, no worries. Also is there by any chance you could please make a video on drawing Hatsune Miku as a request?
I have seen other Youtubers (Mark Crilley and Xia Taptara as examples) do this and thought it would be cool to see your style integrated. :)
Sorry to ask =P
